I cannot distill my feelings into words (although you've done a pretty good job). But this film inhabits an entirely separate genre of its own, its in a field of one. And yes, Sam Neill is and always has been shite. After the film, I needed a stiff whisky and a shower. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well....
